First Build - CB750

We'll see how the flip-up adapter holds up. It has mixed reviews on Amazon. The shield looks very good and clear, with no distortion. Won't be able to test it out for a while, it's 32 and snowing here, and my bike is in 137 pieces.

Yea the only thing that scares me is how it holds up at speed. Would kind of suck to have the shield whip open at speed lol. I just saw that DCC has some flip up bubble shields on their site now too.

Yea i feel you with the cold. It's been in the 30's for a couple of days here too. I must be getting older, I use to not care about the cold! lol I tried to go out yesterday and work on the bike and within minutes I couldn't feel my fingers with 2 pairs of gloves on! Kept running inside to warm up then back out again, and I was in a shed out of the wind. Eventually I gave up and decided I didn't have to do anything with the bike THAT badly.. I think it was in the upper 20's yesterday, well into the teens with windchill. I love the seasons, but Fall went too quick!

I have been looking for a button like that. Where did you get that? Right now, I have a big red button for the start, but that one is much more sleek.

Yes, k&n from dcc.

The button is from cruiser customizing.com . It's the bikers choice mini push button switch. It came with a curved washer to mount direct on bars, or you can remove to mount on flat surface. It's smaller than your pinky nail. They also have one that is a little bigger than a nickel if the mini is too small for you.

I dont know if youve tried those filters before, but if they are the non-name brand cheapo cone filters, you might have some trouble with them. I realized that after I ask you, you have a 750. I've tried them on my 550 and they were no good. Ive had a few other people say the same. If they are the actual K&N im sure youll be fine. Just wanted to give you a heads up before you installed them in case you wanted to think about sending them back. I oiled and installed mine, so Im stuck with them..

Finished cleaning the engine. Low gloss black paint - duplicolor engine enamel.

Yeah I am very happy with the 'low gloss' black. It was between cast iron and the low gloss, glad I went with this one.

The can doesn't say to, but a reliable source told me to warm up the bare metal with a heat gun before the first coat, and heat gun every coat for best cure. That's what I did. I guess I'll see how durable it is when I put it back in the frame!

The paint looks good. How much did you disassemble the engine to do all that? Or did you just tape stuff off?

I took off covers that may need removed for maintenance and taped off some, but fully assembled otherwise.

Thanks for the kind words!

Cut this shorty 'muffler' and hit it with the same low gloss black as the engine. It's about 10" long. Might add a little sound dampening. Any suggestions? Also tell me if I'm batshit crazy to use this as my muffler. My mechanic friend told me about a way to weld a quarter onto a bolt inside the pipe for a cheap airflow adjuster. I may try that also.

Designed these sexy badges and had them machined. The bottom one is going on the face of the lower triple under the headlight.

Hope you didn't cut or toss that "unicorn" top triple clamp.

Points for keeping the fork brace.
Really rethink those pods, Emgo is French for crap.

What are you going to run for an oil tank?
