Alternative mounting for CB400T/CM400 regulator & fuse box

I'd like to get rid of the side plate of electronics on my CB400T1. For those that have done this, what did you end up doing? Make a new plate under the seat area, fake oil tank, or something different.

What about the battery? Anyone relocated it, or running a smaller battery? Mines a T1 so I don't need to worry about electric start.
