Myself and a few other guys are finishing up a build of a CB550 that will be auctioned off in less than a week for the benefit of a local family that lost 5 family members in one RV accident. All the wiring is done, except for the tach. We are using the gauges from a Honda VF750 magna which uses a signal from the CDI box to control the tach. We hooked up the tach wire to the coil signal wire thnking that may work, but no dice, it just maxes out the needle.
Does anybody know what kind of signal the CDI box sends for the tach to read an accurate RPM? Any help is hugely appreciated. I'll post pics within the next few days of the bike, it looks incredible.
