I've got a 1980 CB750C. I had tested the connection of the rotor in the alternator just a few days ago and found the connection was fine. Today I had a charging system failure and found that my rotor is bad (I have no connectivity between the two terminals on the rotor). Also when I opened the casing to the alternator, I was met with a pile of this shredded plastic-like stuff.

I found some of it clinging on to the rotor. I don't know what it is, but my guess is that it was a resin holding the wires of the rotor in place. Can anyone help me out on what it might be and if it is connected to my rotor failure?
Thanks
