The SkyTeam 'Ace' Resource

Re: the "Ace" - it's not yours until you cut it!

I saw one of these parked up at work, I did a bit of a double take as I'd never seen one before.
A nice little bike that's for sure

I'll be posting some more minor stuff about the 'Ace' over the next couple of days - watch this space!

Re: the "Ace" - minor matters!

I'm not fond of chrome as a decorative finish, and even less so on plastic components.
This being the case I decided to paint the instrument pods the same colour intended for the fairing interior.

Chrome:

Stripped:

Painted (before buffing):

Since painting I've decided to go with different instruments - news soon!

Fuckin neato man. Been watfhin since day one and loving every second.

Re: the "Ace" - minor matters!

For the inquiring minds - the chrome was stripped with hydrochloric (muriatic) acid. Th chrome vanished quickly, the underlying copper plating took somewhat longer.

Re: the "Ace" - Gas!

Thomaselli side-pull, quick action. Desirable for a bike that spends so much time full throttle!

Will be mated with the Tarozzi clip-ons when they arrive. A touch of Italia!

Re: the "Ace" - the perils of the web!

Plans are being laid for a new exhaust and some intake mods, so it was decided replacement jets were to be ordered.
The interweb was put to use and suitable jets found:

Idly perusing the rest of the site resulted in the fortuitous discovery of a very neat Koso 50mm (2 inch) tacho, which was duly ordered:

Realising that the tacho would look odd sitting next the standard speedo forced the purchase of an electronic unit to match:

Re: the "Ace" - the perils of the web!

or you could finish that wild cat yamaha

Re: the "Ace" - the perils of the web!

The 'wild cat' is still waiting for pipes. I spoke to the fabricator today and he advised me of another delay. I'm learning a lot about patience, but I would rather have the pipes!
