Nice lil scoot! Following along.

Wish I just brought my tank to the radiator shop. Too many hours of soaking and swishing

sorry no pics yet,  dead battery in camera.
Got tank back.  $60 & I think he misunderstood me a bit.  he certainly fixed it.  That looks ugly but good as promised.
He filled it w evaporust.  I can smell that stuff a mile away.  But didnt "boil" or "acid" dip it.  So, Im gonna do another day w my evaporust and get the strip the paint off.  and call it good.   ;D

Woohoo Adding some miles to my UPS mans truck.
or
Woohoo found my camera charger.

First thing...AWWWWW  The little baby brakes are TOOOO CUTE!!!! ::)

OK, got the tank stripped and ready for Evapo-rust dip.

As promised, the repair aint pretty.  But seems to be stout and liquid tight!   :D

Drying tank inerds to avoid flash rusting...WAIT, TOO LATE.  LOL.  Nothing the evapo-rust cant handle.   8)

ARRRGH.  After finding the FREAKIN FLEA-BAY petcocks dont include the bowl screen and the old stock Honda screen dont fit it.  I bit that $15 bullet and moved forward.

Now I find the Honda petcock DOES include the bowl screen.  HOWEVER, no screen for reserve port.  WTF?

So, first little mod.  Gonna drill the new Honda petcock to fit the screen from the ebay one.

Bromz (an electrician) Highly recommends this stuff.  Deoxit.  Its two parts.  Spray the D5 on wait a minute.  Then spray the S5 on work the plugs together a few times and done.  Removes oxidation and protective coating.

Rachel, Bless her heart, is itching to get her hands dirty.   :D

Poor thing has volunteered to go through wiring harness w deoxit.  Checking all connections...
Every single connection!  One at a time.

I cant wait til she figures out, Just how F-ed up Honda electrical really is.   :o

Hole in Honda tap was too small for screen.

One of my better ideas.  I had a small super strong magnet I pulled from an old hard drive.

Snapped it in half and put it in the cleanout bowl on 360.  So, now placed the other piece in the cleanout bowl on 100.

It works really good for anything that gets past screens.  Just pull it out and wipe it off every spring.

Had Dorothy been a real pal.  She woulda mixed up an Evapo-rust cocktail for Tin-man.

Freakin stuff is plain ole voodoo magic!  After about an hour.  Ive had rusted old shot gun barrels sit in it for 3 days.  Come out completely clean and silvery.

probably just let it sit as is till bedtime.  Then flip it to do other half overnight.
Then "fingers crossed" a sunday morning ride!

OK I stopped the evapo-rust early.  Cause I have a couple scary spots.  If these are rusted through The evapo-rust will eat em out and I will have a couple more holes.  Atleast by stopping now I have a solid place to solder over rather than trying to bridge an open hole.

So, Im gonna try to solder these up MYSELF...I watched a crappy youtube vid and now Im an expert.   :o

I got the tank sitting over the heat lamp again now drying the interior. Will leave it overnight and solder in the morning.

Pretty ingenious on the magnet! Looks like that evapo-rust is some good stuff. Is that phosphoric acid based?

You gonna seal it or just fill her up and let 'er rip?
