Matching Paint

Loctite77

Yeah Son!
I am getting ready to paint my seat pan and cowl. I want to match the tank but i have no paint code or color name. I know a normal paint store can match colors for like house paint. Could an automotive paint store do the same and put it in a rattle can? //images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/07/14/8456716e87769315c1d26d19eef88bb0.jpg

Loctite,

The auto body supply houses will definitely match paint.

They want an arm and a leg to do it though.

http://www.colorrite.com/ Colorrite does a really good job and they will put the paint in rattle cans, but I do not know what they charge.

They use a special digital camera that they push up against your sample and it seals out all the light and takes a picture of it that when entered in the computer spits out a formula they mix and put in an aerosol can. Locally it's $20-$30 for a 14-16oz. can. They are kind of hit or miss for a perfect match, easier on newer colors than old ones I'm sure.
Kenny, It doesn't look like colorrite matches colors older than 1986.
