Something wild

I think your Taunus could easily be made to look like this

I think its gonna need a little more CC's than that......."last of the V8 interceptors" (aussie accent)

Something more along the lines of this

Or get a Tickford straight six............ or a Nizpro turbo

I think the Taunus is very similar to the Cortina sold in the UK, both the Essex and the Cologne V6 engines fit, and I've seen one with a small V8 in.
The styling is similar to the Aussie Falcon.

Oh dear. I remember having one of those in Australia. Blue metallic with a 2.0 SOHC motor. I couldn't work out why the Taunus looked like a Mk111 but without the coke bottle rear end, so I googled it and seems that Ford Germany re-skinned the rear end to make it cleaner/sharper.

So does that mean it would take any of the 2.o turbo versions or perhaps a simple DOHC 2 litre motor. I am sure that the Mk3 came with a straight 6 in OZ so maybe a 1000 Hp turbo six would also slide in there. OK so that is insane but there's a lot of tuning stuff around still for the 2.0l 4 banger to make it more exciting - after the rust is fixed...

It's the so called Pinto motor yes? and came in 1600 and 2.0 versions. That's the one that Tune posted a picture of.

The motor is Pinto yes. There has been 1.3, 1.6, 1.8, and 2l pintos. These engines is with one camshaft. Also Ford has used 2,3l and 2,8l V6 motors, and if i remember right also ~4l v8 motor (its was rare, was it an africa model or something). I thought ill put a pinto 2l motor and tune it.

There is some example of car condition. The car is old so body is rusted badly in some spots. Side skirts and back fenders are the most rusted. Bottom is good condition so its very nice.
In Finland weather conditions are usually very vet and in winter there snow and ice. During winter they use salt to melt ice from roads and keep them "better condition". So ice/snow/salt slush are poison to car bottom and fenders.
Ill weld those bad spots and paint them. I wont make perfect. I would feel guilty then driving in rain and during winter.

Few weeks ago I bought a mig welding machine. I decided to get small 170a mig from domeatic company Kemppi . I think it is just good for this kind of working like small sheet metal jobs and car repair welding. Suprise suprise, first thing i welded was small cart for it.

About the car. Bottom of the driver side front door was bad. Front door window's rubber gasget was hardened and worn out so water has leaked inside the door and rusted bottom of the door. I cut almost whole bottom with grinder and started repairing.

I've welded some spots. You can see I'm not pro welder but anyway it will do the trick. The front door's bottom is ready. I also painted it. Colour doesn't match 100% but I'm quite satisfied. I started side skirts also. In Previous post you can see condition. Other side was very rusted inside the skirt so I had to weld a litle spot inside the car.
About the motor. I've decided to put 2 liter Pinto engine. I will build a naturally aspirated engine because I'm not familiar with turbos. I also pulled of the old 1,6pinto.
Updates Ill do:
-New camsaft kit (more lift, more angle)
-1,6 l pinto cylinder head (smaller cc->bigger compression ratio)
- Cylinder head porting and bigger valves
-Double carb with dual throat ( dellorto dhla horisontal draught)
-"performance" exhaust manifold (not cast iron)
-oversize cylinders.
- new bearings everywhere.
Ive done some research and there is people who have got about 170hp with this setup. It is enough for me and to old car with 1400kg curb weight

Thanks. Work in progress. I bought a bad condition Ford Sierra, and a spare motor. So I got two 2l pinto motors and Ford Sierra. Cost 50€ I took the block to machining and ordered parts to motor.
Driver side skirt is now ready. Welded, filled and painted whole side skirt and stepboards. Im amateur using putty so there is small bumps here and there.

Yep but it is all solid steel again so you can re-do the putty down the road, it will still be solid. Nice work.

Both side skirts now done. Im satisfied. Before I start welding I took out everything inside the car. Its small work compared to fire inside the car. Few weeks ago my garage friend bought cheap ~300€, but good condition fiat punto with little rust spot in bottom. So he tought he weld it and go to inspection and then sell it with 600-800€. He was lazy and didnt remove carpets and seats. Now the car sits beside of hall, driver seat, capret under seat, safety belt and some plastic panels burned and small foam extinguister blown there.
My carpet and seats was bit mildew so I took seat fabrics off and washed them. Also washed the carpet with pressure washer. At the same time I put a bit more foam to back seat. I will do same to front seats but I need get new fabrics to them. They are so worn.
Fenders need to be done and then Ill focus to engine.
