My old CX650 chopper, circa 2006
« on: Sep 12, 2017, 12:14:59 »
This is the bike that started my customization fervor. I got a free CX500 (a runner no less!) and a bunch of 500 and 650 parts, and decided I wanted to make myself a chopper.  Took me years to put it all together, but I finally came up with the bike below. After riding it for a few years (and going through three sets of fork seals in 20k miles), I sold the bike for... well, not much. I've been kicking myself ever since. New owner sold it to someone else, who hacked it into a total ratbike, then threw a rod. As far as I know, it's rusting away somewhere in Canada right now :(

But, this was the bike in all its glory. This is how I built it. This is how I remember it. This is the bike that gave me the monkier "ChopperCharles". The build thread is on http://choppercharles.com

Hah! I wouldn't build the same thing again, that's for sure, but I liked it at the time. I was going for more of a Honda CB750 style chop, with the long forks and the stacked headlights. The fenders were definitely a little too harley though, now that I look at them with the space of some years :)
