For those of you running Cone Engineering mufflers....questions

I have this Cone Eng. muffler that I picked up a long time ago for cheap. I'm thinking about using it on an upcoming project.



I have a CB550 MAC exhaust. The C.E. muffler has a 2.5" I.D. The MAC is hanging in the rafters out back and I can't get to it right now.
Does anyone know if the C.E. muffler fits the MAC header? How did you attach it? Did you use an extension piece or attach straight to the header collector?

This is pretty much the straight through version. I think I picked this up before the "Quieter Core" versions came out.



How obnoxious is it gonna be? Did you have to re-jet for a straight through Cone Eng. muffler?
Just tell me about your experiences with it, please.

I've got one on my XS, it's slipped right onto the header, but I had a buddy tig on a couple loops for springs when he welded on the mount. As for jetting, and etc. don't know. I will say it is quieter than straight pipes, but not by that much.

This may or may not help, but these are two running on my CB650 engine with a 4-into-2 exhaust. There’s a bit of cam chain noise, but hopefully it gives you somewhat of a noise idea. I think they’re more of a tone deal than muffling sound deal.

If I attach this to a MAC 4-1 on a CB550 with stock carbs, jettting and air box, will I need to re-jet? I'm guessing yes, since this thing is so open.
