FRANKENHONDA II the 1982 DOHC CB 750F2 Build

Wow, took me 2 days to review 2 years worth of awesome work and an amazing project. You have inspired a lot of people here for sure. This thread steps up builds for sure. You are more than an assembler of parts, you truly a builder! I can't wait to see how it turns out, and to hear how it rides. I have learned so much from this thread and plan to implement some of your ideas in my own build.

I’m looking forward to seeing more progress in your build. I’m envious of your shed, I’ve just about out grown mine and I don’t know how the wife will take to me parking motorcycles in the lounge room just yet.

I’m not sure if I’ve reached builders status, I’ve persistently bungled my way through most undertakings. I’m running on the premises that persistence is the mother of all skill. So hopefully one day my skill will match my persistence.

Amen brother. Just remember that they only build sheds or barns in 1 size...too small!

I love the Quonset hut. I have a whole build thread on garage journal. See below.

Another update from Old Man Murphy’s shed

A lots been going on and it’s really starting to take shape,

I’ve definitely got to pay homage to the creator of this piece and get it engraved either OMM or Old Man Murphy.

Only people in the know will understand the true meaning behind it, and that’s all that’s Important

Old Man Murphy. Bet if you could coerce him into making more of these billet triple trees then he's got a business right there. Shaping up great man, nice work one and all.

I do keep mentioning that to him. There is talk of a CNC machine just need some space for it in the shed

He's definitely got the talent, that's for sure. A CNC machine would make life really easy for him, he can put the indexing head away for a start haha.

I reckon it would add a new dimension to his game

So another update from Old Man Murphy’s shed

So from the first picture you can see where the front edge was marked up where it needed to be rounded off.

this was done with the router then finished off by hand

Next the hole for the bolt that tightens the grip around the fork needed to be drilled and have a thread tapped

It needs two slits cut, the hole in for the idiot lights then polish, polish, polish, polish

I’m actually thinking I need to go to a CNC engraver to get OMM or Old Man Murphy put on it now

So OMM put the final cuts in for the fork clamp

Then he counter sunk the bolt holes. He used a steel plate to ensure he didn’t go too far.

Now we just need to cut the slot for the idiot lights, engrave and polish it.

After it’s engraved I’m going to use the leftover gold powder coating and fill the engraving with it then try and bake it.

Hopefully it works

Do you have those laser engraving places in AUS? We have places here in the US that take a laser and they can engrave anything from wood to cold rolled steel. It’s a pretty cool process.

Anyone with a vinyl cutter can etch aluminum pretty simply, and with at least equal accuracy as any type of engraving.

So after I’d finished admiring the drilled out disc it was time to tape it up in preparation of spraying the middle of the disc, in an attempt to give the illusion of a thinner disc.

I got a little carried away and didn’t take photos until after I had sprayed it up.

Once it was sprayed I put it into the oven... in order to prolong my marriage I bought the garage an oven and used that instead of the one in the kitchen

My rear sprocket also arrived and it’s a match. Now I just need the 4 studs to fix it into position and a 530 front sprocket then I’m ready for a chain.

I did a test run with the top triple and the hole for the stem is a smidge tight so it’s back at OMM with all the instruments.

We are going to turn up a bucket that screws into the underside of the triple to secure the gauge and. The idiot lights will be flush mounted into the triple. So watch this spot.
