Dirty Dan's Suzuki T250

Dirty Dan

Tasty waves and a cool buzz.
Well, winter is almost here and I've found something to keep me busy for the next few months. A 1971 Suzuki T250. I got the two stroke itch and had to find something to satisfy it! Hunted around on Craigslist for a few months and found this for $100, I couldn't pass it up...I love Craigslist! There will ALWAYS be a deal so long as you're patient.

It's going to be a stock bike, I don't think this is one I want to cut into. I'll be hunting for all the parts it's missing (I'll get to that in a second) and attempting to spend as little as I can on this.

Now, like I said, I'll be hunting for the parts it's missing:

-Mirrors

-Headlight

-Fender Struts/Braces

-Rear Grab Bar (Seem to be pretty rare, I'd love to find one! What would be even better is a grab rail+luggage rack... Augh, that'd be PERFECT)

-Air Box Assembly

-Air Box Hose

-Battery Box

-Handlebars (current one's are bent, I may be able to fix them with a little bit of heat...we'll see)

Alright guys. I'm going to go ahead and re-define "bike porn" with this first picture. Cracked into the carbs last night and...

Yep. That came pouring out.

I'm having the hardest time finding carb kits for this bike, I don't think Keyster makes them anymore. I found some on ebay, but at $25 PER CARB, not to mention the additional shipping fee's...Ugh. Anyone have a source?

Re: Dirty Dan's Suzuki T250 - Bringing It Back To Life

Dude I cut grass and my four stroke had some issues so I spent some time resurrecting a two stroke Suzi lawnboy that you could ram into long grass and it just kept spinning, I wish you all the luck.

Re: Dirty Dan's Suzuki T250 - Bringing It Back To Life

Yeah, from what I've learned about these engines so far, (two strokes in general), is that as long as you treat them right they're practically indestructible! Not to mention powerful. This little 250 makes 33 horsepower at 8,000 RPM, 22 ft-lb at 7,000 RPM.

Re: Dirty Dan's Suzuki T250 - Bringing It Back To Life

try www.siriusconinc.com they have thousands of carb kits if you sonic clean them that will bring them up

Re: Dirty Dan's Suzuki T250 - Bringing It Back To Life

they are $22.50each for keyster

Re: Dirty Dan's Suzuki T250 - Bringing It Back To Life

Hey thanks so much for the link!

I need to do some more reading about sonic cleaners, I really don't know anything about them, but from what little I've seen...and what you've suggested, they seem to be the way to go for carbs!

Re: Dirty Dan's Suzuki T250 - Bringing It Back To Life

my BMW Bing carbs were just as gummed up as those ang now they are as new sirius con inc did them for me

Re: Dirty Dan's Suzuki T250 - Bringing It Back To Life

Anyone have any experience with this?

Re: Dirty Dan's Suzuki T250 - Bringing It Back To Life

...Nobody?

Just curious if it'd be worthwhile or not. Not Ultrasonic cleaning itself, I know that works. I'm wondering if the tank Harbor Freight offers would get the job done.

Re: Dirty Dan's Suzuki T250 - Bringing It Back To Life

We had one of the Harbor Freight ultrasonic cleaners at my work and used it a lot, no problems.

Let me know if you need any carb parts for that bike, I have 6 spair carbs and a ton of parts, no charge if I got it.

Got my hands on a tank and the correct side covers! Crappy cell phone picture taken in a dark corner of my work space, but you get the idea...

I pulled the engine too. Looks like it had some water in it at one point, the left piston was pretty hung up with some rust, which was new to me... When I bought it it wasn't stuck, and I've been storing the bike inside a dry shed... ??? With a little bit work I managed to break it free. I need to check the crank seals while the engine is pulled, it only has 2k on it but I have no idea how long it sat before I bought it.

I haven't updated this thread in awhile, been incredibly busy with school and work... Bike time has been more or less non-existent.

Found a parts bike on Craigslist, cheap, couldn't pass it up. Paid less for it than I would've paid to buy the parts I needed for my orange bike individually (headlight, airbox, battery box, non-fucked rear fender, smaller OEM tail light etc etc etc) Plus it has the scrambler pipes, which are pretty damn sweet if I do say so myself. If I decide to use those it'd make rear-sets possible (pretty sure they wouldn't fit with the big ol' low pipes) So... I'll have to see. Not quite sure if I want to go mild mild mild cafe, like rearsets and clip-ons (or clubmans since I have a pair) only mild, or leave it a complete stocker seeing as I have all the necessary bits
