Hi,
I have a 72' CB350 twin & I want to ask if any of you members have ever attempted swapping in a pr. of O.E. 66-67.5mm pistons into your CB350 from another model Japanese engine from the Big four(Kaw.,Yam.,Suz.,Honda ??
I found out that they wouldn't work because of the height of the piston pin in relation to the dome on the KZ440 pistons.
Has anyone found a good 66 or 67mm O. E. piston that'll swap in to the CB350 twin from Honda or another Japanese manufacturer ? I want to keep the compression ratio right at about 10.5:1
try these http://www.ebay.com/itm/Honda-CB350-K4-Wiseco-Race-Pistons-68-to-73-65-50-mm-10-5-1-cr-Classic-Racing-/360799734997?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts_13&hash=item5401570cd5
the kz pistons would be a great budget item, but I think you'd be looking at building a shim for the base of the block, and then finding a longer cam chain, that would be the easiest I think, easier than machining the pistons as much as they'd require. maybe I'll make a kz/cb350 engine after the kz/cb750 is done

I need to measure the stock CB350 pistons exactly.I Like the idea of the KZ750 piston... Have any of you tried installing a pair of them into a CB350 twin ??
The KZ650/750 and KZ400/440 compression height is .960 in. .
Top of wrist pin bore to top of piston is .665 + half the 15mm pin.
Pic is of an early 9/1 piston. The later 9.5/1 has a slightly taller dome.
Early piston uses thicker rings than the later version.
Thank You for those measurements Rex.
I think it's best for me to find a direct "bore & swap-in" piston that doesn't need any mods,if it's possible....
I want to keep the Original cylinder liners & bore out to between 66-67.5mm and limit the compression to 10.5:1
Have any of you tried running a pair of O.E. pistons out of any other Japanese motorcycle in your Honda CB350 twin that'd be around 66-67mm and have about 10.5:1 and be a good drop-in swap candidate ?? Stock CB350 pistons are 64mm w/ a 15mm wrist pin diameter,so I do have a few good choices... :
Hi Bozz,
I'd like to speak w/ a few Vintage Racers out there who are into the CB350;do you know of any racers ? Where's the nearest race track to Pittsburgh,Pa. where guys will be in the Sportsman 350 class ? Do I have to wait until Spring...?
