Plastic fender to look chrome?

Bozz

Coast to Coast
Hola brain trust.
I have a plastic Ducati Monster front fender I am using on a build that I would really like to appear "chrome".

I have talked to plating outfits who declined.

I have tried vinyl myself and had a prop vinyl guy try. No love. (My attempt looked better, fwiw)

Any other avenues to suggest?

Caswell makes some copper conductive paint that works on plastic. After the copper goes down, you can use their brush plating kits to plate zinc on the fender. With proper prep, it can look pretty darn shiny.

these guys seem to have a handle on it, prob not cheap but for one guard might be ok

This was the first time I had really seen spray chrome. Pretty freaking awesome.

Go to your local hobbyshop and get you some ALCLAD paint. If they don't have have it, get it online. It is a paint that buffs up to a killer shine, and comes in several different metals. A close second would be Testor's Metallizer line of paint.

ALCAD is very fragile, its designed for model kits and doesn't stand up well to even finger prints or handling, don't know how well it'd go with road shite hitting it.
i'm guessing it would also be quite expensive to get enough to do a front guard as it only comes in tiny little bottles
