KZ 440 timing

Hey guys,
My engine has been sitting on the garage floor since sept, so I finally did the head gasket on my '81 KZ440... problem is I think I totally fuckered up my timing in the process, as I was putting it all back together I had this stroke of brilliance, "probably shoulda set it to TDC before I tore it apart" damn! So here I am trying to get the timing sorted out and realize I'm in way over my head, any pointers for a newb?!

the cams need to be put back in correctly or your timing will be off and you have the potential for the valves to hit the pistons. This is from a kz400 manual but i think it is similar for the 440. you can get the FSM for the 440 here> http://kz400.com/WorkshopManFrameset-5.html
