Carb swap

Okay, I bought a 1982 Suzuki Gs1100 L. Great bike, no carburetors. I also have a Yamaha xs1100 that someone ruined the transmission in. Don't know how. Bought it with the cases spilt and the transmission in a box.

So the Suzuki came with with 28mm vm mikunis. The Yamaha has 34mm cv mikunis. So, can I put the Yamaha carbs on the Suzuki? Or is it not worth trying? Thank you

Your GS came with 34mm CV Mikunis, earlier 2 valve GS1000s had 28mm slide Mikunis.

But back to the original question, the answer is yes so long As the cylinder spacing on the XS is the same as the GS, I don't know if it is.

What I do know is that GS1100s have the same carb spacing as any air or oil cooled 750, 1000 or 1100 Suzuki or Kawasaki.
The Suzuki engine was designed by the same person as designed the Z900 engine and he used the same cylinder spacing for both.
