Well I thought I'd share my long going project. I picked up an 81 kz650 about 4 years ago during my freshman year of college for 250 bucks. Thought it would be a fun and "quick" rebuild. Turns out that wasn't the case, college and lack of money really can drag out a project. 4 years later and I finally finished college and working full time, I can finally finish this thing.
I picked it up as you see in this picture, everything was in a box.
I quick threw it together to see what I had.
Yupp, it's all there, needed quite a bit of work, carb rebuild, a lot of rewiring, and some appearance mods.
After this, it sat for a LONG time. Finally now I am working on it. As of right now, the carbs are rebuilt and like new, new brake caliper, new this, new that. But It still needed more parts and tlc.
You can see I got new bars, and quick shot some black on the tank. Already looking better!
Now I just ordered a MAC 4into1, new front tire? And about 225 dollars worth of parts from z1. My tire and exhaust will be here tomorrow, and the z1 package on Friday. It will be a busy weekend!
