The Buck and the Boost, ZX-14 vs. Busa

Scooter trash

Been Around the Block
Kawasaki builds a bullet proof bottom end, then blows it with the cylinders, by combining them with the upper crankcase. Your stuck with factory cylinders and can't use the many billet blocks available to the Busa. Hence for dependable service, the power of the ZX-14 is limited to 7lbs boost if your going to put tens of thousands of miles on the engine. The threads stripped on one of the crankcase bolts so heli-coils were used for all the 10mm x 1.25 threads. A 15lb spring is being used now instead of the 7lb.

Anyway it has 9.5-1 JE pistons instead of Wossner because of price. Wossner is better though. The fuel rail is 3/8" and the photos show the new 620cc injectors and fuel pressure regulator. Also a 225lph fuel pump is being used.
