  • The last one I worked on with oil leaking out the exhaust needed cams, valves, guides and cam chain.

  • For sure, get it cheap and then check it, if too much to fix, part it out and double your money
  • Jul 06, 2017, 14:17:34
  • advCo:
  • Yep, but you can't know until you get into it
  • Jul 06, 2017, 13:33:54
  • Maritime:
  • If it is just valve seals it's not a big deal, if it is valve seats then there is machining work needed to fix that and can add up if you don't have the tools to do it yourself
  • Jul 06, 2017, 13:05:56
  • advCo:
  • Thats just me ;)

  • Or is it/could it be a whole Pandora's box full of possible snafu's?
  • Jul 06, 2017, 12:10:28
  • The Jimbonaut:
  • Cool, thanks for the heads-up...if I can snag it for $500 is the oil leak something I (as you may know by now, learning this stuff as I go - everything I've done on my bike has been for the 1st time) can do myself?
  • Jul 06, 2017, 12:09:33
  • advCo:
  • Yeah you could easily drop $500 into that head to get it right
  • Jul 06, 2017, 11:53:02
  • Maritime:
  • That's a $500 Max bike if it needs the head work to stop oil leak.
  • Jul 06, 2017, 11:45:21
  • advCo:
  • For $1000 i'd stay away
  • Jul 06, 2017, 11:40:45
  • The Jimbonaut:
  • Owner says it's leaking oil at the headers and mechanic reckons it's leaky valve seats.  Never gone that far into an engine but well up for it
  • Jul 06, 2017, 11:38:29
  • The Jimbonaut:
  • Please excuse the hijack - saw this CB750 on kijiji and wondered what you guys think? [link]

  • Have a safe trip, I may get there next year. I hope to be at Barber this year but that's still up in the air

  • also waiting on aftermarket cylinder and piston kit for one of the chainsaws, bumping it from 56cc's to 64cc's
  • Jul 06, 2017, 11:04:08
  • Kamn:
  • its affecting power and mpg's.....since its turbo and may take off the turbo to clean out the variable vane, they can get caked up with soot and not perform as well
  • Jul 06, 2017, 10:58:27
  • advCo:
  • Sounds fun, i was looking at a ford 6.0L gasser with a utility body a few years back and it needed manifolds. I didnt buy it. lol
  • Jul 06, 2017, 10:44:13
  • Kamn:
  • yeah, 6.0L diesel manifolds that come from factory with no gasket and eventually warp + they have a couple of small holes in the manifold, so grabbed a good used set from Texas and got a multi layer gasket with new hardware cause I'm probably gonna have to cut all the heads off and get studs out with heat and vice grips
