Hi all, I just picked up this beauty for only $125 a couple weeks ago. Motor is stuck, and it doesn't have a title. I just got the motor un-stuck and need to do a little work and re-assemble. The question I have is, whats the difference between the TX500's and XS500's? I'm having a hard time finding parts for the TX. They seem like the same bike to me.

Does anybody know a good source for parts for these? I need a new tank, as mines rusted through. I also need a cam chain.

Thanks!

To be honest the bikes are practically identical except for very minor parts and adjustments. You'll find that the XS500 will have all the service issues under wraps opposed to when it was the TX500. One difference I noticed between the two models was an air tube connection that bridges the two intake gaskets. I hardly believe this makes a huge difference, but the good news for you is that basically all the parts are interchangeable. So feel free to ebay both models for parts. They should all begin with "371" Be careful on ordering parts for XS500 models 76 or later since their engine design changed a bit.

I know this is an old thread but im trying to figure out if a 75 xs500 engine it starts withe the 371 would fit this frame:

What's this bike worth? No blue book, can't find it, the TX from 75, the "a" model, very rare I know, but what value to it? Mine is in VERY good condition, no enginbe problems, just in need of restore.....
