I'm working on my KZ250 cafe' project and, while it still has a long way to go, I have the big picture in my head. Heck, I have most of the small details in my head.

One thing that I just can't "visualize" just yet is the brake light.
Here's what I DO know:

-I'll be running a seat from cafeseat.com ( http://cafeseat.com/MediumCafeSeat.html ).
-I will NOT be running a rear fender.
-I do NOT want to cut the fender to "french in" the tail light
- Nor do I want to bolt a light to the fender.

That leaves me with mounting something under the seat or out to the side. Maybe a combo tail light/license plate bracket?
I'm still waiting for the seat to be delivered so I can begin mock up, but can you guys give me suggestions? Maybe post some pics for inspiration?

I hate side mounted plates. To me they say that the builder couldn't work out a decent design, so they just copped out. But that's just how I see it. Not everyone shares that stylistic opinion.

There are many choices in old and new style lights. For something really small think LED strips. On the Phat Trakka I decided to use a Yamaha R6 integrated light but it didn't throw any light onto the license plate. I found a simple LED strip light in Autozone with double sided tape that stuck onto the lower face of the tail lamp.

If I were to do it again, I'd look at using LED strip lights for brake and running lights. Try http://www.cosmicleds.com/ or
