Hey guys,

Just wondering what type of foam you would use if you were going to make your own seat cowl for your own bike.

I have a screenshot of some material that's probably similar to what I need, just need to know where to look,

Thanks guys!

Paul

There are a lot of people with different preferences on foam types, some do yoga mats and cut them up and some buy carpet padding and use that layered up and shaped. I personally hate when a seat is uncomfortable either on a short ride or a long one. I have used sunmate foam on a few rides that I did custom shapes and no other foam compares. They also have a foam called pudgee foam that is an awesome top layer that acts as a memory foam. www.sunmatecushions.com they have a sample box they will send you for free as well to check out the foams before you buy.

Hey bomorr,

Thanks for the advice/links! Do you think sunmate's products would be conducive to seat forming as showing in the picture above?

Thanks again!

Oh sorry I misread the original post, not sure how well they would hold up if you were laying fiberglass. However I have seen a lot of guys use that green flower foam to make a cowl form. Heres a link to Herm from DCC using the flower foam: https://youtu.be/AT6P7qaUPLw
It's a pretty cheap alternative if your only looking for a one time mold.
