Xs400 weak spark one side

Snow, the other white drug.
Yesterday I picked up a complete Yamaha Xs400 for $100. Got her home and just for shits and giggles threw a little gas in the tank and it tried to sputter to life in 2-3 second bursts. Ok, cleaned the carbs checked oil, lightly scuffed the point contacts, washed the tank out with gas and a fresh battery. And now I get pretty much nothing. And the left side spark is weak and I've swapped coils and plugs side to side and the problem stays with the left side. It's such a baisic ignition system but wtf? Any advice guys?

Well if you swapped coils and it didn't follow the coil (assuming the wires are attached to the coil) then it's likely in the electrical connection to the side with bad spark.

Is it firing on starting fluid? Or not firing at all?
