My Father in the Brooklyn Naval Hospital at the end of WWII. His leg was crushed in an incident at sea and he fell nearly 50 feet into the ocean. He was lucky, several others were killed.

Ha. It's funny how proud we were of shaping that thing. By the time you get on the ship, it was all ball caps from there.

To my Uncle Harold [ 6th Para ] - joined up underage at 16 - fought in North Africa and Italy before they found he was underage - sent back to the UK in time to retrained and to be dropped into Normandy at Pegasus Bridge on D Day.

Taken from our family aged just 18 in the liberation of Putot-en-Auge at Hill 13.

RIP Harold [ August 1944 ]

The grave immediately after the battle to liberate the village.

And my late Father John Vincent [ served RAF 1939 -45 ] 60 years later

After 20 years of investigation - here is the actual spot [ the Apple tree in the background] on the brow of Hill 13 where Harold was killed manning his Bren Gun.
