i have a CB500 Four as my new Project and want to make a Café Racer.
I'm form Switzerland.
I Dissambled almost the whole Motorcycle but now i have a Problem.
It's my first time that i work on a motorcycle so i have my first question^^
My plan is to make a grenn/gold theme café racer with short knuckles and the original brakes, etc.
At the moment i have a Yamaha Fork but i got all the Original Parts to Change
I don't know which Year it is because i wait for the Papers.
i only have that pictures at the moment but i hope you can help me.
i want to put the motor out to start framework but the problem is i can`t get this bolt out and i hope you can help me.
The Bolt is here somewhere in the picture and its the last bolt that i can't get out.
i take a better picture tonight for you.
normally the year is stamped into the neck of the frame or on the vin number tag (this can go lost due to loose rivets so don't wory if it's not there).

my only problem now is the damn bolt that i can't get out! i go to the garage tonight and make some pictures so you can see which bolt i mean
Hiya mate if you have taken the other engine fixing bolts out ya need to undo the nut of this last one then take the weight off the engine cos at the moment it will be nipping up between frame and bolt use a car jack or similar under engine then use something to tap out the long bolt (like another bolt) tap from right side of motor to left side maybe even use a bit of lube to help it along let us know if it is more of a prob than that mate
^ Yup what he said. Not familiar with your model but I'm guessing all of the engine's weight is on that one bolt, relieve the weight using a car jack or similar and it will come out easily.
thanks guys! yeah i put some oil on it and some jackstands the i could hammer it out
nice, now i only need to flex the chain away and then i can put the motor out and start with the framework.

Hey Guys next Question. I got a Problem to put my Engine out of the Frame.
The Problem is that the Bolts at my Breather Cover are destroyed by the stupid previous owner.
So did you know how i can put the engine out?
I tried everything out with laying down the motorcycle, etc.
The oil pan is out but the engine get stuck everytime i try to put it out. Any thoughts how i can remove the cylinder head without removing the breather cover?
Don't think ya can get head off with breather cover on as there are four bolts holding down the head inside the breather cover if the outer bolts are really shot drill them out start with a small bit workin ya way upin drill bit size till ya equal to the size of the shoulder of the bolt then it should come away
So my bolts are shot. But before i try to drill them out, any other advices how i can get my engine out? I got a couple of pictures for you guys! what pieces did you remove to get the engine out? I got pics for you! Thanks!
Hey Guy i finally got the Six Bolts out after 4 Hours, with an Impact Driver, Hammer and a Saw

So a really Short Update.
I washed the Frame and Swingarm to finally can Start Framework.
i am not really sure if i can make it, but i want to make a Café Racer Seat and probably a Brat Seat so i can switch between Single Person and Two Person riding.
I think for the Moment i will stay with the Original Place of the Battery and Batteryholder.
I will start Welding and shortening of the Frame on End of July when i will have my welding lessons.
I want to get rid of my Center Stand and some other small Pieces.
Until then i will buy my shortened U-Bar for the Back and other small Stuff.
Motor is at the Moment at my Mechanic where he looks over it. He's a specialist for old Honda Motorcycles and a really nice Guy.
I made the decision to Sandblast and Powdercoat my Frame and Swingarm in Bronze.
Did you know where i can see a Bike with all unnecessary Stuff cut away for a Café Race.r As a reference so that i didn't cut the wrong sections out?
Hope it all works out how it should. My Deadline is the Start of Summer 2015.
So now like ever my questions.
I want to get rid of some tabs.
i tred to mark it red so you see which one i mean.
did i can cut this or are they necessary for engine, etc….?
the first i think is for the side columns but i am not sure, if it this i want to keep it.
On the last two pics did i need to press that stuff out of the frame?
And the passenger pegs i think i need to keep to mount rear sets is that true?

as soon as i got it detabbed it i can sandblast the frame and send it to get powder coated!

and the front triple tree stuff did i need to press that stuff out?
only if your going to put new bearngs,the stand pieces you should keep it is very handy having a side and center stand.... the center stand just put on when you need to work on the bike like change a tire
