I'm new here but here are the pix of what I just bought - '77 Honda CB550 Super Sports and this is going to be a Cafe Racer

She is a honey and I am sure will turn out very cool.

I got it with a spare engine and spare headers and a few bits and pieces.

Look forward to your thoughts and your help as I embark on this project.

I am just absorbing ideas from everwhere at the moment for this project. I kind of know what I like in a Cafe Racer eg (seat and tank shapes and spoked wheels) but from there on I am open . I do want to get most of the ideas together and visualised as a concept before I start. Trick for me is to stay totally within "Classic Racer" or go a bit "Radical Racer". I like both but either way I want mine to be unique. (Definition of Unique - " different , just like everyone elses")

I am starting to think that my 550 is a '76 (not a '77)

I think they did away with the fork boots in '77 models.

I can absoluitely establish that (when the bike is delivered to me next week) from the Serials on the chassis. Meantime any insights appreciated.

Nice. I had found pix of your bike before I even bought mine. I had them filed away in the "must steal these guys ideas" folder.

As a pro cameraman I appreciated the photgraphy I must add.
