Re: gs550 "78 project no 3 agh !

Beautiful work on the clocks! Looks like it is all coming along nicely.

whipped the motor out ,got it on the stand great piece of kit added wheels to it so I can role it about great that you can rotate the motor with it ,
cleaned up the engine put new clutch plates in new plugs a lick of paint can't wait till the covers are all polished gonna look smart took the paint back off the edges of the fins just to break up the black a little may even help with cooling ::)

beautiful work your going to love it

i just got done designing a 4 into2 carb kit and new ignition for the 550 and in riding it during drive tests and jetting runs

was really surprised as to how much more power it has over the cb550 the thing hauls

has 13 hp more than my cb550 mind you my cb550 has 4 into 2 exhaust and the gs550 has a 4 into one kerker

but it breathes better and has more aggressive cams ect

you will love it and its a nice motor to work on

put new clutch springs in and damhik

cheers mate things going a lot slower these days but so long as its going forward I know i'le gonna get there some day ??? got the exhausts welded up still need grinding and polishing but daren't show my crappy welds :-[ so pics of finished pipes only whenever that will be haha one thing I did try my hand at was to respoke the front & rear wheels its still a dark art but I got it yeah pics show how it went including polishing the hubs and repaint the centres and added the fresh boots too
