1976 Honda cj 360

Wow now thats a bolt list!!! Getting close to taking the engine out of the frame. It is starting to get pretty bare. I think i will wait and mess with making this centerstand right when I get closer to repainting the frame then I can do whatever welding before I paint. Time to focus on the engine!

Also my condenser reads 125.8 nf which converts to .125 uf if I'm doing that right so it might need replaced right?

I'm pretty sure it should be 22mf (actually it's 0.22 to 0.26uf)
Only use half bottle of ZDDP in a gallon of oil

Well got side covers this weekend. Need Ideas on paint schemes. Gonna go with a black frame and black jugs. I was thinking navy blue or orange for the tanks, covers and fenders. Any Ideas? Thanks

Why do you say that? The bottle says it treats 4 quarts. Last I knew 4 quarts = 1 gallon.

Just curious of your reasoning. (And that I used a bottle to a gallon.

House of Kolor Oriental blue candy over a HOK metajules base would give you that classic Honda Hawaiian blue color with a bit of extra show quality BLING!

Their Tangerine can't be beat for a killer orange either... From what I saw of your other bikes, you can pull off a good paint job...

Well finally draining the oil out getting ready to take the engine out of the frame. Boy does an impact screw driver really pay off. I figured I would loosen all the side cover bolts while it was still in the frame for support. That screw driver was the best 10 bucks ever.

Agreed Bromz. I abused way too many bolts before getting the impact driver. Hats off to whoever invented that thing.

Well got the engine out and started removing parts. One of the tappet inspection hole plugs broke but not in the engine thank god. There are all kinds of them on ebay.

It's not obvious in the pic but do you have all the valve springs the right way up?
Can't see exhaust side

Well just the forks left to take off the front then it is all stripped down! Engine gaskets and seals arrived today so I will tear the engine down this week and bead blast the jugs. Paint the case and jugs then start reassembly .

I borrowed a hone from the garage, to hone cylinders. It had a broken stone but it worked great and was just the right size.

Upon recommendation from PJ, Frogman, etc I drilled out these journals...1/32 larger. I used the pencil attachment on the dremel. to fit straight next to the head stud.

Also, I drilled and chamfered these holes in the clutch basket. I just used a bit that fit between the grooves (teeth) around the outside. And dremel to chamfer.

What's the reasoning on channeling the holes on the clutch basket? More oil?

Well made a home made stator removal tool.
