CB350 Popping on deacceleration

How high should I be getting the RPM's when setting full advance timing?

Teazer: Retard timing would cause overheating? Dumb question but retard is what? Advancing the timing?

Both over advanced and over retarded ignition cause over heating, different types of over heating, your ignition timing has to be correct to within a few degrees.

Absolutely correct, but only one creates popping with unburned fuel in the exhaust ( as a rule). Good point that advanced timing is likely to generate higher cylinder head temps and retarded gives higher exhaust temps.

Thanks guys for the info. Will check timing again at full advance and see if it's off.
