Engine Case Plug for Starter Elimination

Hey guys, I'd like to eliminate the starter from my cb175 build and run a kick/bump only scenario to eliminate some weight and wiring. The only problem I see with this is that now I have a huge hole in my engine case that needs to be plugged.

Do any of you know the best way to do this? Do you think it's possible to sacrifice my starter and chop off the sealing area and just plug it right in to seal? I'd love to clean this thing up and sell it but I may have to use that part of the starter for a makeshift bung.

Has anyone ever done this? How have you eliminated the starter?

Thanks!

Yes, many, many people have done this. You can buy aluminum plugs just for that scenario, or some people have used freeze plugs.

Here's an aluminum one I have for my 350

Not to Hijack but do you know any place that sells the 350 plug, Herr?

I got mine a long time ago from a member on HondaTwins.net. He has a business (MotorCycle Solutions LLC) and does business on eBay. Very nice person to deal with.

Website (however their store is currently offline): http://motorcyclesolutionsllc.yolasite.com/

eBay Store: http://stores.ebay.com/motorcyclesolutions

Oh wow that thing is beautiful!! Good machining work.

Since a lot of 350 and 175 parts are interchangeable can you slap some calipers across the thing to give me a dimension? I could potentially buy one for a 350.

Also, does anyone know where I can locate one specifically for the 175?

Like Yinz said, PM CrazyPJ. He makes some ridiculously good looking plugs and other bits for a good price.

The freeze plugs available from most autoparts store come in a variety of sizes and are a lot cheaper than the custom machined plugs. I have one blocking the starter hole on my CL175. However, I didn't install it so I can't tell you which one it is, but one of them is bound to work.
