What is the temp in your shop?

13 °F here in Cincinnati. Wrenches don't turn in these temps.
But I may fire up the furnace this weekend and do a little work on the 450 project. Its just so damn expensive to run.

We keep our shop at a balmy 48 degrees and turn the heat up when we need to (usually to 55-60 when we're working). The primary reason to keep the shop that warm isn't for us, sadly. It's to keep any potential condensation off the bare sheet metal, tools, cars/parts, etc., and to keep the pipes from freezing. Temperature fluctuations and condensation can cause some nasty flash-rust. I've had stuff in unprepped bare metal lying around for years now without surface rust.

Oh, and you have to keep it warm enough that the oil in all the British cars we work on stays thin enough to continue to leak. After all, it's built-in underbody rust protection!

No kidding - it hit 30 yesterday, and it's 28 today! What the hell will I have left to bitch about? ;D
