Suzuki FA50 Moped - "The Bumblebee," or, my first two stroke

How's this beast running now? I'm eyeballing an 86....150.00. Only needs carbs cleaned hahaha

Its been running great for 6 months or so, until it died on us the other day across the neighborhood. Haven't had time to mess with it and troubleshoot yet. We ride the crap out of this thing, its a blast.

Bump.

Another friendly reminder that I still fully expect this to happen. Don't let me down son.

I need you to track me down some epic mags and other moped farkles from the salvage yard. Surely there is a moped graveyard in Ohio.

Annual September Reminder that you have failed due to the fact that you have not made your FA50 like this FA50.

You have indeed let me down Son. I am dissapointed.

The Covidpocolypse caused me to miss the Annual September Reminder that you have failed due to the fact that you have not made your FA50 like this FA50. Only 2 months off.

You have indeed let me down Son. I am dissapointed.

I hear you just got another one at your new place at least.

Make it so.

Sorry, dad. I did just start it up last weekend and tool around the new neighborhood, so at least there's that.

Missed a couple years, but just here to remind you that I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed.

I finally caved. 60cc big bore cylinder, Mikuni VM18 with MLM intake, port matched reed block. Boyesen dual stage reeds. Malossi red clutch springs make the clutch grab hard, and tied it all up with a MLM expansion chamber.

Made some FA60 decals.

Runs awesome now. Think I need to up the main jet but I haven’t messed with it other than riding it since mid-o. The brakes are shit, but I’m working on adapting a mountain bike disc brake for the front.

Messing with my 1965 Honda 50 that I've owned since 1970! beast has been sitting since 1980 so much love required. To ride it in Toronto it will need more power so Big piston from S-65 and CB125 twin have been sourced. I can't use em both but the CB125 will have a more reasonable Compression ratio of about 10:1. I have a carb from CT70 and Webco "racing" valve springs to help the beast. Ah...some rebuilding is required first. The plan is to challenge your Suzuki to a pissing contest as I'm afraid the 2 stroke would be hotter in the HP department.
