So I picked up a 1977 pe 250 b for a hundred bucks. Basically a rolling frame, has the engine but nothing else.

So far I've stripped it down, cut the back half off and started to gring all the tabs off.

The top is coming along nicely. Still a bit of grinding to do then a file and sandpaper to get it perfect.

I think I am going to run a bead over the factory one to make it look a bit better and finish the spots the factory didn't.

Following along.

Might wanna re think "finishing" welds that the factory didn't put there. Often they are not there for a reason to actually let the frame flex where it needs to.

Sounds like it will be a neat project bud, thanks for sharing it.

So I've decided against making her a hardtail. I don't have the area or the tools yet.so I found the original swing arm, and have some brand new shocks. So now I have to find some material to make a hoop and supports. Oh and I lost one of the caps on the swing arm, a lot of digging through parts to find it. And my back will love it being a softtail.
