Hard tail for cb360

motorbikejesus

Burnout?? Burnout!!!!!!!!!
just bought a 1973 honda cb360 and i want to build a bobber, i already built a cafe......... so does anyone know of a good company that sell hard tail kits for 360? just wanting to hear from all you bobber nuts. thanks

tcbroschoppers.com sells hardtail kits for the xs650 but all the bike between the late 70's and 80's have pretty similar frames that im sure would fit your bike...check em out!

There are no hardtail kits for the 360 bolt on or weld on. TC bros makes the universal kit mentioned that basically has the bends in it and you have to piece it together. Not to try to discourage you but the 360 and 350s are very tough to make look right using the front half of the factory frame. They have a stamped backbone and the tail has to someway tie into it. The bottom rails under the motor are uneven with each other (made so the motor can slide out one side I guess) so its tough to tie into those and make it look right as well. All very very good reasons no one makes a bolt/weld on hardtails for the 350s/360s.
So besides being astetically challenging, it all has to be done so everything is at the same degree in perfect alignment so the bike tracks and drives straight. Not an easy task at all but it can be done.

Red at CycleOne Manufacturing made a nice frame for a 360.
In the late 70s, the original Iron Horse magazine featured a designger named Paladin. He had a pretty detailed drawing of a Triumph 500 or 650 with a home built hardtail using the stock swingarm. I didn't have a Triumph so I copied the design using a Honda CL350. Basically I extended the swingarm 2". I cut away the rear section of the frame and welded tubing between the shock mounts on the swingarm and the frame (approximately at the point where the rear of the tank mounted. I also added louvered sheet metal panels between the swingarm and the top of the hardtail which hid my electrics and provided some visual interest to the bike. It turned out very well, was fun to ride and fairly cheap to build.

I used the TC Bros kit when I built this one...its a good starting point kit.
