LOL. Just an FYI, that cooktop cleaner is basically calcined kaolin and feldspar (that's where "cerama" comes from) in a cleaner base, so you could come up with a formula to make yourself pretty cheaply.

I think that bottle of pre-mix was pretty inexpensive. :)

Re: The Black Knight, Back to work.

all I know is that through sorcery, witchcraft and magic, glass cooktop cleaner + aluminum foil does an amazing job cleaning chrome.

Re: The Black Knight, Need engine stand ideas

OK guys, ENGINE STAND, needing ideas and suggestions.

With its large oil pan and oil filter, this 400f is an awkward and tippy SOB.

Im looking at milk crates, lumber, unistruts, threaded rods...etc

And can not come up w a good idea to be able to place it up on my work-mate.

AND still pull oil pan, filter, side covers, clutch, head cover. etc. For work, cleaning and painting.

So if anyone has any pics or ideas of ANY kind of stand, that could be made to work for this. I would greatly appreciate it.

Re: The Black Knight, Need engine stand ideas

I have seen a few guys use a car engine stand and made some adapters to fit the engine mounts.
Might be tough on older engines to figure out though.

Hack and weld some legs on an old frame?

Haha I though about that for a millisecond but I have plans for the spare frame I have. :)

And these frames aren't that cheap.

Re: The Black Knight, Need engine stand ideas

I made one when I was redoing the gt250 that fits on a regular engine stand. It is way overbuilt, but it was material that I already had around. It does a fantastic job and is very nice to be able to get all the way around the engine. Also, if you can believe it, my garage was actually clean enough and uncluttered enough at one point to have that in there LOL

Re: The Black Knight, Sketchy engine stand

One word for this engine stand....

SKETCHY.

Really its actually sorta solid. ::) Though I may end up adding some flying buttresses before its over. LOL

And if need be, I wont be afraid to swap in longer front struts to tip the engine back for easier access to the soft underbelly.

Re: The Black Knight, Sketchy engine stand

I would worry more about it being top heavy on that work bench. But a nice little stand otherwise.
