will send the tins off to Daytona paint cant wait to get them back

Re: CB400/4 UK Build

bike looks insane...if you can clearcoat it somehow instead of paint it you should do that....love the raw steel look

Re: CB400/4 UK Build

Thanks steve ;D
Trouble is, Here in the uk in the winter the council SALT the roads to de-ice them!!!
So any bare metal gose rusty in no time! And clear coating bubbles after a while.
I was going to polish the tank and the seat hump to a mirror finish but then the clear coat
has nothing to cling to! I will thead the paint job on next week, but have loved riding this bike.

That tank looks awesome! The whole bike is great, but I particularly like that tank. Be a real shame to paint it, but I can understand your thinking.

Re: CB400/4 UK Build

Thanks guys, ya im realy pleased with the bike considering its my first build.
I realy wanted to keep it as is, But i want a bike i can ride more than i clean!!
And plus i think the pain job iv gone for is awesome with the decals he has put on, it flows with the style of this build.
See what you think next week, Let me know

Cheers Jeff

Re: CB400/4 UK Build

Just stumbled on this thread. excellent transformation, I am impressed that this is your first bike. I might have to steal a couple of your ideas. ;D I would like to see this one in the next DTT book. -MBS

Re: CB400/4 UK Build

Thanks man,ya theres no law in pinching good idears,I will make the side covers a littel smaller
though, My wife says they look like Y fronts!!!!! She dose have a point.
will post pic when done

Re: CB400/4 UK Build

I like the side covers, maybe if the were red and black they would blend more, but honestly its my favorite part of the bike as-is, second only to the paint job. Really nice work. Only think I would consider changing is centering your gauge to go with the lines. Great bike though.

Re: CB400/4 UK Build

Made the side covers look smaller and also made a plate for the bar clamp

Thanks MBS ya i agree i was going to change the clock for a chrome one
center it and maybe change the pilot light setup (maybe in the new plate?)

Re: CB400/4 UK Build

Actually I didn't see the pilot lights before and had no idea they were there. I woudl leave the positioning of the clock as is but either replace it with a new chrome one or get one of those chrome gauge covers to slip over it. Really nice job on the clamp plate and side covers. Where is the thread that shows us how you did it?!? ;D
