Protecting underslung battery

Hi chaps, I’ve mounted my battery with two metal straps underneath my bike behind the gearbox. It’s above the lowest point of the engine but also still fairly exposed. Space is tight. Obviously the easiest answer is to stick it in a metal box but because it’s so confined I’m very worried about shorting the + terminal. I was thinking of wrapping it in some hard rubber, like a knife/craft mat? Any suggestions appreciated.

Or a skid plate. If you want to put it in a box, you can get terminal covers. You could also fill the gaps around the battery with high density foam so it doesn't move at all.
