I was looking for a kz650 instead found this 78 KZ1000. PO had it set up as a cruiser. Low speed crash bent fork... so i took it off.
Nasty
Now a little less nasty
Swing arm pivot bearings and pivot bolt were bound up. Had to cut that turd off.
No worries tho. Suzuki Bandit swingarm is an easy upgrade
Mock up with ZXR1200 shocks, 1999 GSXR rear sets and passenger pegs. Zip tie engineering to see where to mount them.
2012 Suzuki GSXR 750 front end. Wheel is temporary.
Mocked up new fender and fairing. Both from Ducati Monster. Renthal Fat bar, protaper bar mounts, Cognito Moto custom stem, and top clamp. Controls are 2012 GSXR 750.
Then BACK to square one. Tabs removed. New foot peg mounts to come.
Carbs are out at WG being rebuilt and tuned. Head and cylinder is at PStop being rebuilt and high temp painted.
Im tearing the engine down today. Decided to go all the way.

Today I disassembled the engine. Completely. Glad I did, I found nasty black chunks of old oil. Pump and passages are clean though.
Frame is ready for reinforcements.
Messy mess but ends up organized in the end.
Black and white so you cant see my shitty attempt at painting this stuff.
Now progress grinds to a halt while the real professionals take over. Well maybe I can post some of my welding work next week.
