Rachel is loving her scooter. Just needing something more.

Ted found this one close to him...went to check it out for me. Turns out it was JUNK! And the guy has been selling parts off while listed for sale on CL. AND still wouldnt budge on price.

Found this one near Hurco. The price just went stupid.

After 3 more days of hunting, this 1978 CM400A, Hawk, Hondamatic complete w clean title and original toolkit popped up on CL two hours from me.

Non-runner w no history. Its been through the hands of atleast 2 POs w intentions to cafe it. But neither got around to it.

Re: 78 CM400A for Rachel

Ten-4 bro.
Its funny, cause at first I was like "ORANGE?!?! YUCK".

But now that its sitting surrounded by Gray, Beige and black bikes. That orange adds a nice splash of COLOR to the garage.

And I think I like it. :D

Re: 78 CB400A for Rachel

Starting work to make her run, or find the reason she was parked at only 2300 miles.

Got a new Clymer manual from Amazon.
But even better, Maritime, sent me the DL link to Official Honda shop manual right here on DTT! 8)

Thanks for the lesson

Your welcome, just doing what I love doing. And looking to spend ZERO dollars until I get her fired up OR find the reason she was parked at only 2300 miles. However, so far Ive spent $2.50 on the replacement overflow tubing...My repair leaked so I JB welded it. (now its a temporary fix until I can get a solid bowl.) And $25 on a manual, I didnt need. ;) And WELCOME to DTT! 8)

Looking good mate.

Thanks bro. So far I found no reason for parking this thing. Pulling head cover now to take a peek down her blouse. ;D

Valves are all dead nuts on spec.

Getting close to kicking this bitch.

Re: 78 CB400A for Rachel

@trek97

This is fantastic. I just picked up a 1980 CM400A and joined this site. Mine is running pretty well with a small oil leak but I want to tear into it soon to make sure everything is in tip top shape. Your pictures are really helpful.

They are fun bikes to ride! The "auto" tranny is weird but kinda fun.

Anyway. Thanks! Keep posting and show us how it's done! :)

Welcome to DTT bud!!! :) I made some pretty sizable orders Monday morning. So, its gonna start raining parts here tomorrow.
And hopefully I can really hit it this weekend.

Great to hear about your bike...Start your thread and post some pics of her. PM me the link once you do, so Im sure to find it. 8)

And YES the auto tranny thing does give a weird feeling. (even in the short ride I took) A very foreign feeling not having a clutch to pull when turning around. This machine is for my wife. She is just now learning (and loving) to ride. She is currently riding a Honda scooter. So it will be a very natural transition for her to move on up to this machine.

Most evenings, Rach has been trailing me around the village at 25mph until last night we hit the two lane for a mile of high speed cruising at 40mph. ;)

first you need to get your priorities straightened out. Bikes before Bathrooms, Bro. ;D

Dont matter how long between updates. We will bookmark your page and it will let me know when anyone makes a new post to it. So, I can check it out.

Thanks about the 100. Its a fun little zoomer I restored last spring...or 2 springs ago.
If you want to see my thread its here...Its kinda a two part thread. I restored it and rode the first season. Then went back and converted her from 6 to 12 volt system, the following winter.

Wow thanks bud  I put it back in how it came out. Maybe it is backwards. I got a fresh filter enroute and no plans to fire it up again til then.

I will pay close attention when I do. Thanks again.

I looked again at the picture and YES it came out like that and I put it right back in like that.

Re: 78 CB400A for Rachel

When you have to finish the remodel in order to refinance within the next month so you can keep the house in the divorce.... well... ya know... ;)

Thanks for the reading material!
