I've always found them pretty reliable, only time I ever had a problem with Yamaha pump the oil tank had a mixture of oil and water in it (probably for several years)
Always found pre-mix more trouble than it's worth on street bikes, plus, you need to re-jet for pre-mix

I shortened the steer tube on a xs 650 triple (thanks gijoe13844 for the idea) and put a fair amount of work into the tunnel of tank number 6 ill grab pictures after work
Hope you measured better than I did. Left myself JUST enough thread after I put in the all balls kit.

Yesterday when I was replacing the oil injection lines on my bike, I noticed with a quick blip of the throttle that the cable would derail. Bad thing is that I couldnt tell by the throttle alone. The real deal is that this is an old cable and the return is slowed by this. Before I get on the road I'll lube the cable and triple checknthat this doesn't happen anymore. This happened maybe 1 out of 8 times.

what bike did you buy the kit for? I put it together with loose ball bearings for right now

I bought the set to put a 75 xs front end on a 73 rd. they don't sell anything for the r5 but I think the neck measurements are the same between the 72 r5 and 73 rd

Fender fixed in place on the swingarm and wheel spaced left ta right

I love that you're up to 71 pages and still not riding it yet. ;)

This bike reminds me of my first GT750 which I'm busy stealing parts off it again. In the meantime I have built one custom GT750, one totally stock and one more or less stock with upgrades. I keep changing my mind and chopping bits off and swapping parts out.

When it started it was supposed to be a tracker look but had street/race parts as well, so the tracker bits went onto the Phat Trakka and street parts went on another build. When I finish the next two I'll get back and modify it some more and maybe finish it - or maybe not..

That's the problem with too many parts and too many ideas. I feel your pain there Brad.
