The covers are the first delay. The adjustment is nothing like the 350 because the 450 is TIGHT!!!!! As soon as you think you're close and you gently tighten down, the adjustment has moved!! We're dealing with 0.015mm!!! That's not a large margin! You can sneeze and that gap is closed up tight!
Also it's hard to shove a shim as flimsy as foil between the cam and follower, compared to the tappet on 350's.
They aren't the worst bars I've seen. Look at the XS650 behind it...
