DOHC CB750's

Trying to figure out what I am going to do with this cockpit. Need suggestions about the speedo and ignition.Need to drop them a bit. Thinking about grinding down the handlebar mounts because I have a set of Tarozzi clip-ons from DCC on the way.

The question is, would grinding them down weaken the structure of the top tree enough to become an issue? I'm curious because I want to do the same thing. Of course you could always do this : http://www.dimecitycycles.com/vintage-cafe-racer-caferacer-bobber-brat-chopper-custom-motorcycle-steering-parts-billet-aluminum-cb500-cb550-top-triple-tree-12-2113.html

Could you extend the ignition wires and relocate the cylinder somewhere else, like under the tank or seat?

I've seen it on many bikes before and I don't have the money to buy CNC aluminum right now. Although they are on my wish list. I really don't know what grinding them down will do to the integrity but I may just chance it.

What about using those risers and threaded holes to mount a home made aluminum gauge panel?

I call my 750 the "Dust Collector". Finally started working on it again. Ive got the mono shock mounted now & on to trying my hand at rear sets next after I finish mounting the seat cowl and battery box. Im working on 4 bikes right now, so progress gets slow.

I dig the swingarm brace... and mono set-up. Excellente! What else you workin' on???

Besides the '80 CB750F, I have an '80 KZ750 & an '03 Sportster. Im also converting a friends KZ1000 from a mess of a bobber that he bought. Four projects is almost too much for me & makes for slow progress.

I totally hear that! I have four also. Well, one is complete, a Buell XB9S, went from basket case to XB9R (dubbed the XB984R). Waiting to sell. And, I have three ongoing projects listed under my posts.

Got the clip-ons on and now trying to figure out how I will attach the seat. Baby got gap. 8)

I did this to my frame. Others have done similar for the DOHC.

Hey Junkcafe - Lucky for you you don't live in PA. that bike would never pass inspection without a seat-pad. Nice bike BTW.

Well lucky for me we don't have to get our bike inspected here. Besides I am going to have it upholstered soon. And Thank you.

Man JunkCafe, that bike sounds GOOD! Gives me a "semi" just listening to it.
Thanks for that video and this excellent thread for us DOHC'ers to gather, it gives me real motivation to get crackin get Rock-It running. She's coming along but I still have a ways to go before I can hear her roar like that.
Wonder how much is due to the Kerker and how much is the natural sound of these engines... time will tell I guess.

In my state they dont require bikes over 35 years to be inspected (considered antique), perhaps other states have this rule as well.

Dude!!! That's amazing. Brilliant work on it so far, exactly the sort of customization that floats my boat. Seriously considering a DOHC as the next beast now.

Do you have a build thread for it? Would love to read more on it.
