Been Around the Block
Starting a new project, hopefully third times the charm...



Not sure which direction I am going yet but I think this is a good start. xs360 all stock with 6200 miles. New headgasket, tires, carbs already rebuilt, electric start added.

I gave up on it. I always liked this style of tank and this bike in general.
 
Making progress. The tank was bad.. real bad...

Let it sit in vinegar for two days...

There is good metal under there! Letting it sit in vinegar again for a day, then Ill throw some metal bits and penetrating oil or more vinegar and shake it around. Thought about a pressure washer too because the rust just flakes off now.
 
Finished cleaning the carbs today. The float bowls are noticeably at different levels. Will measure and correct tomorrow.

Pulled the spark plugs which are at completely different gap settings...

Also pulled the points cover, the screw that the screw driver is pointing to was completely loose.

I will be checking and fixing all of the above tomorrow!
 
Im in looks like a good place to start ........

Theres some stuff I think its called "Evap-a-rust " or something like that you can get at HF that works real well on rust might want to give that a try !

Thats the plan! These tanks are way too cool to let one rust away.
 
Picking this up tomorrow to ride while the xs isnt running. I am going crazy not being able to ride! this should hold me over.
