1979 Yamaha Xt 500 Build

So working on this bike for a friend. We are stuck between direction to go. Budget is the issue. He has caviar dreams and a ramen noodle budget. I think we can knock it out with old fashioned elbow grease and a small budget. Either way here is an initial picture of the just started we are almost street legal. We need some turn signals, some mirrors and a the tires need changed.

What are you planning to do to the bike? What style are you pursuing?

Right now we are looking to clean up the lines a bit. Sleeker tail light, trim the fender a little, make the seat slimmer, refurb and paint the frame and pieces. The front end is the biggest question we are mulling over. The style will be like the original, enduro with a bit of street tracker. I am trying to push going to a more modern front fork with upgraded brakes. Not sure the budget supports it right now though. Not my money financing it so tougher to get somethings done.
