Powder coating steel rims

Good afternoon all,
I have a set of rims are rusted beyond saving. I wanted to clean the rust off and powder coat. Is this advisable? Would I have to plug and cover the spoke holes so that there would not be any powder in the divots and spoke holes to break away and cause the spokes to come loose? Would it be better to just paint? Also would it hurt anything if I sand blasted to clean? Any and all advise is welcome.

Absolutely NO problem.

Just remove bearings and put sacrificial bolts into any threaded holes and Robert's your pater's sibling.

They'll blast to suit and powder coat.

I've had many wheels done this way with no issues.
