Any DTTs in the Charleston area? Would love to get out sometime. Hit me up. Sorry for the repost but I wasn't sure if I fit in the Dirty South or DTT East Coast?

Here are some pics of my 78 CB550. I had Johann Keyser in Raleigh NC build it and it turned out great. Let me know if you would be interested in contacting him. Very reasonable and does great work. His website is www.cav-america.com. He spends most of his time building GT40s but does bikes on the side. We nick named the bike "Mamba". I will put some pics up of the build shortly. It was really an amazing transformation.

Nice bike!
The CB550 is a personal favorite of mine, and that looks a lot like "the bike in my head".

very nice. Johann is a member here. I cant remember his screen name right now, but hes a very cool guy.

I had to get the word out on Johann as it appears he is going to be doing more and more bikes now. I think the next go around I am going to take a bike from 75 (year I was born) and build something out myself. This project was great but wish I had a little more blood sweat and tears in the whole thing. None the less it's still a head turner. I think I found a couple DTTs in the area as well to get a ride going. Anyone else interested?

I will also post some build pics on this one so you can all see the amazing transformation. Part of me was a little sad to see a mint Cb550 get chopped but in the end it was worth it.

Nice bike! Heard about it from my friend who talked to you about it last week in N. Charleston. Always up for a ride. Let me know...

Hey guys! I'm new to the cafe racer thing but always loved them and I just picked up more first project bike. It's a 1980 kz440. I hope to get things going soon. Can't wait to get it on the road and riding. If there is anyone in charleston that can help with it as far as parts or someone who works on them let me know.

Awesome man! Glad to have another soldier! Shoot me an email at the above address and we can talk further. Cant wait to see the bike...

I don't know about the parts but there a guy named RAY that has a shop off of dorchestor road that does great work as far as getting the bike tuned in and running smooth. I don't believe they do much body work but the mechanic is good. The name of the business is Retro Cycles and the NUmber is 8433437088

Awsome! Thanks I really appreciate the help. Right now I'm trying to get the wiring figured out, the previous owner cut it for some reason so trying to match stuff up has been a pain. Plus i can't find the right wheel bearings, I need 40mm od with a 15mm id and no one seems to carry them not even bearing distributers on rivers ave.

Yeah ive always hated doing the wiring on old bikes. I ended up just buying a new wiring harness for my R5 from HVC Cycle. But i personally stopped looking for the parts in the stores in Charleston. I just order everything off line. But you maybe be able to find the bearing on the site I put below. And Ive listed some other site that Ive used alot.

Thanks for the websites, bikebandit.com has everything i need pretty much. The only prob is they want 215.00 for a main harness, well it's pretty hard for me to spend that kind of cash right now, so hopefully with some luck i'll be able to figure the wiring out. Thanks again for the websites. I plan on posting some pics up soon of the bike so far and how it sits this second. By the way I wouldn't mind checking out your bike, post some pics up.

Yeah the wiring harnesses always seem to be over priced but what can you do.... yeah id like to see what it looks like.

Yeah I'm becoming pretty content with it after getting all the bugs out. But that wiring harness does look like a headache. Good luck on the build and keep updating the pictures. Id like to see where you go with it.
