Little Honda cafe

Titan performance

Titan cafe racer builders.
I've been helping a good friend with his first ever build project over the last couple of years. We have worked just one evening a week, and then only in the warmer weather, hence the length of time it has taken to complete.
We started with a horrible CG125 Honda, with the aim of creating an eye catching little cafe bike. We were also trying to keep the costs reasonable.
Here are some pictures of the end result, which we are pretty happy with. Anyone who has attempted a custom build will appreciate that there is a good deal more work in the build than may appear.
My pal Colin so enjoyed the project, he is already thinking about the next one.
Redline Clothing is his T shirt printing business...........

Colin chose his paint scheme, and wanted to keep the standard tank....we welded a plate at the back of the tank to create a smoother mating surface with the seat unit. We filled over the plate, which covered the unsightly seam around the back edge of the tank. We then cut off the ugly stock filler cap in favour of a Monza filler.

The front fender is the original, simply cut down and reshaped. We created our own headlamp ears, from 2mm stainless, welded to some polished stainless tube which slipped snugly over the top of the fork legs. To keep the front end as neat as possible, we fitted the ignition switch into the side of the headlamp. Simple after market switches were used on the clip-ons, along with a neat new throttle housing. We designed a new top yoke which was cut from 20mm aluminium and polished. We also designed a mount for the new speedo which was water-jet cut from 2mm stainless, and polished.

We had seen a lot of so called 125 cafe builds that weren't fitted with rearsets, and still had the stock pipe.....but that approach wasn't for us. We worked out that a high rise silencer wouldn't interfere with the rider's right leg, so we built our own header from stainless sections readily available, and routed it high, into a reverse cone mega. At the head end, we had a lovely little polished knurled collar made, to hold the header on.
We junked all of that crap that bolts under the motor to provide footpegs and both stands, and welded our own hangers to the frame for our rearsets. This created a problem, as we now had no stand....the new stand had to go on the right side, as the only place to mount it on the left, interfered with the chain run.
