Recessed bar led taillight

Hey all. I want to recess a bar led taillight into the seat hoop (kinda like the cognitive Moro one) and know I saw a thread on here where someone did it but can't seem to find it again. Anyone have any tips or ideas?

I am doing the same once I get my seat hoop bent.
My plan is to cut it with a dremel to size and then fill the tube with spray foam and carve it out to fit the light.
 
I was thinking I'd weld the tube closed then smooth the cutout with fiberglass filler or something. Maybe foam then filler.

My idea is tubing bent to the contour of the hoop, put half in / half out, of the slot, and weld along the edge. Grind off the portion sticking out.

Hey nova I went with your idea basically. I cut out the channel then cut a 3/4" steel tube in half then heated ant tack welded as I bent it into the groove. I still have a little finishing, but it came out pretty good I think!
