Anyone else feel like a kid when they get a bike started for the first time?

Mr_Dunev

I have no idea what I am doing
Anyone else think it's one of the best feeling in the world? I know how frustrating it is to NOT get a bike started! I have been having some trouble with my TY250, so it was a relief that all this bike needed was a simple carb clean.

This is only the 3rd bike I have gotten started, so maybe the feeling will pass as I continue to fix bikes.

Maybe I am the only guy who takes a video every time I get a bike the bike started for the first time.

But if you have any videos feel free to share, I know I can't stop watching mine,

I've built a lot more 4 wheeled vehicles than I have bikes, but the feeling is exactly the same. Like bringing something to life. A lot of anticipation, a little fear, followed by relief and excitement.....if it starts. Dread and disappointment if it doesn't.

I've built enough vehicles now that I've gotten a lot better at making sure everything is hooked up and done right before startup, so a little of the magic is gone, and it's rare for something to not start up these days, but it's definitely still exciting.

Yep!

Still get that feeling every time I finish one, no matter how many "first starts" I've made happen. Here is the latest of mine, a first start in 30 years of my 1973 R75/5 resto. Still love that video.

Yup.
I strut around the shop with my chest puffed out thinking "I am an engine GOD!" ;D

That's a BEAUTIFUL airhead you have there!

I don't have enough room to strut :'(, but I do go home and watch the video OVER and OVER ;D

I've been building stuff with engines for damn forty years now. The feeling is the same every.....stinking.....time. 8)
It makes me think, if it feels this good for me to resurrect an old machine then JC must really get a charge out of doing it to a person. ;D

One of the things that I like about a kick-start bike is that you get a small charge of pride-mixed-with-relief every time you kick a bike and it splutters to life. 8)

I had a good video of my first start. Some lady was walking by with her kid and I scared the crap of them.
Lost the video though.

I remember it being scary actually but once it fired up happiness replaced the fear.

LOL yep, the first time I fired the GL after doing the timing belts was one of the best/worst, cause if I messed it up the motor was FUBAR, but she fired up and purred.

Just started a 1970 Honda CB450 after doing a top end on it. Fired right up...... ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I WAS a kid when I started a bike [ my bike ] for the first time - and every time since [ 59 years ] ;)

4 resurections under my belt so far and the feeling each time is so great!!!
That is one thing that makes me eager to find the next project right away. ;)

Yep, anything motor related is awesome when it starts up, especially after you have trouble with it. Some of the best moments I've had.

Felt like bringing this thread back. Rode a new bike for the first time, and yes I felt a bit like a kid.
