So I am doing some horse trading with my buddy for a old broke truck I have and he has a couple options in the $1500 trade range. A Suzuki gt250 a Kawasaki h1 (500) or a sachs 125 enduro. I'm leaning towards the sachs. I think it would make a nice small brat bike.
I didn't get photo, but here are examples of each option in similar condition.
Yeah, that front end is what caught my eye too. It was revolutionary at the time. Triangulating a front end added a lot of strength before suspension could do it.

that early H1 is by far far far the most valuable machine there
i had one of the sachs when i was a kid and they were racing them then as well
it was the quality of that front suspension's action that made it superior in the day not the "triangulation" ....it actually soaked up big jolts very well and had anti-dive properties under braking
unfortunately the sachs/dkw motor came from the factory with 7 neutrals in the tranny ;D
but they DOMINATED desert racing in the southwest back in the day in the lightweight class and overall as well
Is it? I know it's got more promise to be worth more, but it's in pretty rough shape. These photos were just an example. The h1 does come with a spare motor too. I have not found any sachs for sale but I figured it was around $1500 as is.
. I thought it probably was, but was unsure on the value of the sachs. I'm not sure on the year of the h1 but is does have front drum brake so it must be 68-71(?) I'll have to look it over a little closer and see how much work it might be. I already have one 2 stroke triple to completely rebuild, so on the fence if that will make me want to do another one, or an easy single sachs build.
